Lessons & Leasing

Lesson Attire

Proper attire ensures a safer, more secure & comfortable ride

All riders must wear:

  • long pants (no wind pants or tights)
  • hard soled shoes or boots (no inside zippers)
  • shirts tucked in
  • hair securely tied back
  • ASTM approved helmets

Riding equipment & apparel are available in our Tack Shop, upstairs next to the visitors lounge. Ron Friedson provides everything for the well equipped rider; boots, helmets, chaps, show clothing & equipment. Basic riding outfit packages are available to get you started. A large selection of consignment clothing & tack are also offered.

 

 


Lesson Basics

  • Group lessons are limited to 6 riders per instructor
  • Lessons may be purchased individually
  • Series lessons offer a discount from individual lessons
  • A Series consists of 6 lessons taken in 6 consecutive weeks- Series start dates can be found on the Events Calender
  • To receive the discount, all Series Lessons must be paid for in  advance of the first class.

All cancelations must go through office – 203-877-4784 – with 24 hour notice or student will not receive credit for makeup lesson.

Riders and parents are encouraged to sign up for our ‘Stable Notifications’, which are sent out at least monthly and keep the stable community up to date with shows, weather events, trail rides, hunter paces, barn closings and other Spring Meadow happenings.  Please send email request to info@springmeadowfarmct.com.


Lessons

Beginners (4-7 yrs of age)

Taught in 1/2 hour private class.
Grooming is included in the lesson. Basic riding skills are addresses: steering, eye/hand coordination, balance, 3 point & posting rhythm.

$55 per 1/2 hr lesson if purchased individually
$270 Series of 6 – 1/2 hr lessons, paid in advance

Beginners (8 yrs & older)

Taught in 1 hour group class
Each rider has an assigned personal handler
Basic riding skills are addressed
Grooming & tacking are not included in class time; please allow an additional 30 minutes before & after class for this

$55 per 1/2 hr lesson if purchased individually
$270 Series of 6 – 1 hr lessons, paid in advance

Novice & Intermediate Class

Taught in 1 hour group class
Prior to class, each rider is responsible for grooming & tacking up their mount (allow at least 30 minutes)
After class, each rider is responsible for cleaning their horse & equipment (allow at least 30 minutes)
This ground work is essential to building mutual trust & confidence between horse and rider

$55 per 1/2 hr lesson if purchased individually
$270 Series of 6 – 1 hr lessons, paid in advance

Advanced Lessons

Instructional content to be determined with instructor

private $75 per 45 minute lesson
semi-private $65 1 hr lesson

Leasing

Leasing affords students more time in the saddle
Leasing ensures the best match of rider skills to horse
Leasing eliminates horse fees at all home shows

$325 Quarter lease / month

Private lease available upon request

Leasing is available to riders sufficiently competent to ride without a handler or instructor present.
